Truitt had reelection support from dozens of General Assembly members and North Carolina Republican U.S. Sen. Thom Tillis, to no avail.
Morrow collected support from rural education leaders and parents. She said that if elected, she will put scholastic performance ahead of diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives. She also aims to make the school buildings the safest in N.C.
